Troops of 8 Sri Lanka Light Infantry under command to the 141 Brigade of the 14 Division of the Security Force HQ - West hurriedly attended to some splits on the banks of Dandugamoya, a tributary of Attanagalu Oya, close to the Bodhi Rajaramaya road at Thummodara after water leakage caused flood levels to go up to 5 feet.
Troops using sand bags repaired the bank splits, together with a group of fellow-naval troops. 8 villages were affected due to this leakage. Major General Vikum Liyanage, Commander, Security Forces-West also visited the venue while troops were attending to the emergency.
On the directions of General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, Major General Vikum Liyanage, Commander Security Forces - West, Major General Sujeewa Senerath Yapa, General Officer Commanding 14 Division, Brigadier Pradeep Gamage, Commander 141 Brigade and Commanding Officer 8 Sri Lanka Light Infantry closely supervised the project.
