Troops Assist ‘Muthiyangana Maha Se Abhiwandana’ Programme

Troops of the 112 Brigade under the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) in response to a request made by Matara Vishuddhimagga International Buddhist Association and the office of the Chief Minister of Uva Province, extended their support for conduct of the religious programme, ‘Muthiyangana Maha Se Abhiwandana’ at the historic Badulla Muthiyangana Raja Maha Vihara during June 3 - 5.

The programme under the aegis of Ven. Nagoda Saddhaloka Thero attracted a huge gathering of devotees and members of the Maha Sangha and gave away free spectacles, dry ration packets, school accessories during the three days.

Troops on the directions of Major General A.P De Z Wickremaratne, Commander, SF-C prepared meals for about 400 Buddhist monks and 5000 devotees with the assistance of more than 38 Army cooks and assistants, including the staff from the civil sector. All raw materials and food varieties were however provided to the Army by the organizers for this purpose.  

Mr Nimal Abeysiri, District Secretary for Badulla together with Brigadier C.S Etipola, (Brigadier-Projects) of the SFHQ-C, Deputy Inspector General of Police Mr L. Jayasinghe, were also associated with the programme.
