Troops Assist Ritual to take away Sri Sumana Replica from Sri Pada Summit

Troops of 19 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) under command to the 112 Brigade of the 11 Division under the Security Forces Central as has been the practice in previous years took back the replica of the deity, Sumana Saman statue along with its other venerated paraphernalia from the Sri Pada summit to Nallathanniya Temple in procession on 27 May 2021, heralding the end of the pilgrimage season.

Under the guidance of Major General Ranjan Lamahewage, Commander, Security Forces, Central and Major General Kithsiri Liyanage, General Office Commanding 11 Division, Brigadier Anura Disanayake, Commander 112 Brigade and Commanding Officer of 19 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) guided the troops to attend the need, adhering to health guidelines.

Mr P.K.R.T Nandana Galauda, District Secretary, Mrs Sithara Ruwani Gamage, Divisional Secretay Ambagamuwa, few senior Police officers and government officers gathered at the beginning of the procession to take away the statue amidst blessings of the Maha Sangha, led by Ven Bengamuwe Dhammadinna Nayake Thero.
