Troops Assist to Douse Fire at Talawakele

Troops of the 3 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) serving the 11 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ- C) in another instance of its public service, took immediate steps to bring a fast spreading bushfire under control in the general area of Talawakele Holy Rest in the Nuwara Eliya District on Wednesday (14).

The fire that broke out late Wednesday morning covering an area of about 1 acre was brought to the notice of the troops of the 3 (V) SLSR serving Nuwara Eliya area under the 112 Brigade who reached the area swiftly and brought it under control.

However, they succeeded in extinguishing the entire fire under control by evening the same day (14).

More than 10 Army personnel at ground level contributed to bring the fast spreading fire under control.
