Troops of the 3 (V) Gemunu Watch of the 581 Brigade under the 58 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ- West) swiftly took urgent measures to contain a fast spreading wild bushfire in the general area of Ensalwatta, Deniyaya in Matara District on Monday (26) at about 5.30 in the evening.
The fire that broke out in Ensalwatta, Deniyaya area at about 5.30 p.m on Monday (26) was reportedly spreading fast at the time Army troops had arrived at the scene.
On the instructions of Major General Sudath Perera, General Officer Commanding, 58 Division, 581 Brigade troops under the guidance of their Commanding Officer brought the situation under control.
