Troops Assist Conduct of Thaipongal Ceremony in Mullaittivu

681 and 682 Brigades under 68 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) to coincide with Thaipongal ceremony (Jan 14) launched a number of different programmes in their respective areas.

Troops of 14 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), 29 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG), 23 SLNG and 11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) troops separately, conducted cleaning programmes at Mullivaikkal (West) Sri Vinayagar Kovil, Kanapathi Kovil premises, Shivanagar Kovil, Valllipunam Sri Ponnambalam Kadiragam Murugan Kovil, Puthukkuddiyirippu West Muttumari Amman Kovil and Theruvil Appuda Vinayagar Kovil premises hand in hand with devotees and Kovil trustees on Thaipongal Day.

In addition, devotees to those temples were entertained to refreshments and Pongal milk rice prepared by troops in respective areas.

Similarly, those troops together with devotees joined special Thaipongal prayer sessions at respective Hindu temples on that day.
