Troops Assist Civilians in Thannamarachchi to Drain Accumulated Rain Water

Army troops along with officials in the Disaster Management Centre at Chavakachcheri Urban Council and Thannamarachchi Divisional Secretariat Office assisted Kovilkudiirippu civilians, engaged in draining of rainy water that accumulated in their residential areas on Wednesday (21)

Initial findings confirmed that the lack of a proper water drainage system has caused floods in the village. Following investigations and on the instructions of Technical Officers at the Divisional Secretariat Office, Army troops constructed a complete drainage system, setting up 6 new culverts with the help of backhoe loaders and tractors. 23 families in the area were benefited as a result and the project prevented the area from its recurrence.

Director at Disaster Management Centre at Chavakachcheri Urban Council, Commander 523 Brigade, and the Divisional Secretariat provided the much-needed guidance to expedite the process. Army troops of the 523 Brigade, the 12 Gemunu Watch (GW) and 4 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) provided the essential manpower for this urgent work. Authentic Nike Sneakers | Nike for Men
