Troops of the 8 Gemunu Watch and SLEME Base Workshop at Udawalawa under command to the Security Force Headquarters - West took prompt action to extinguish a bush fire that erupted inside the Halpe Forest Reserve in the Imbulpe Divisional Secretariat area on Friday (23).
As the spread of the bush fire was causing damage to the forest cover, Major General Sujeewa Senerath Yapa, Commander, Security Forces - West sought the assistance of areal support of the Air Force troops to bring it under control. However, no human beings or any personal property were affected due to the bush fire.
The project was closely supervised by the Commanding Officer - 8GW and the Commandant at SLEME Base Workshop under the direction of the Commander of the Army who got the Air Force fire fighters to help the ground troops.
