A sudden fire that erupted in a private educational institute in the general area of Akkarayankulam at about 8.00 pm on 18 June, was brought under control by troops of 20 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) on the directions of Major General Wasantha Kumarapperuma, General Officer Commanding, 65 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi.
Under the close supervision of the Commander 651 Brigade, those troops rushed to the location and controlled the fire in response to an appeal of the head of the institute. Troops were appreciated for their invaluable efforts by affected civilians after the incident.
