Troops of the 56 Infantry Division conducted a Medical Camp aimed at assisting vision-impaired people in the Nedunkerny area on 13 July 2024 at the 'B' Company camp premises of the 16 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR).
This programme was scheduled in two stages. In the first stage, 291 vision-impaired individuals underwent eye check-ups. The second stage included cataract surgeries for 33 patients, and the donation of spectacles to 10 patients and reading glasses to 211 screened patients.
The programme was launched under the guidance and instructions of the General Officer Commanding of the 56 Infantry Division, Major General S. Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc, with sponsorship from the Secretary of the Assist Resettlement and Renaissance Organization, Dr. Sarvesvaran.
Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks participated in the event.
