Troops in 241 Brigade with Philanthropist's Sponsorship Build House for a Needy Family

The foundation stone for construction of one more new house for a needy family in Mahaoya, Ampara was laid on Tuesday (25) after a sponsor came forward to foot its cost at the request of East-based troops.

During a brief ceremony organized, Major S.R Kodithuwakku, Commanding Officer of 16 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) of the 241 Brigade of the 24 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) laid the foundation stone after Mr. Nishantha Laksiri of DSL Cargo International Private Ltd, Colombo assured to sponsor the house.

After the living condition of the beneficiaries, Mr. Hettiarachchige Gamini and his family were brought to the notice of the SFHQ-E & 24 Division, the philanthropist came forward to bear the financial costs of raw materials, worth of Rs. 750,000.00.

Under the guidance of Major General Channa Weerasuriya, Commander, Security Forces - East and the GOC 24 Division, 16 Sri Lanka National Guard troops will provide much-needed manpower and technical expertise for construction work under the supervision of the Commander 241 Brigade.
