Troops of 18 VIR Completes Battalion Training Course

The troops of the 18 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) completed their Battalion Training Course at the Security Force Headquarters - East Battalion Training School in Punani. The course commenced on 16 January 2024 and concluded on 4 March 2024. Major General W. Chandrasiri RSP USP psc, the General Officer Commanding, the 24 Infantry Division, graced the closing ceremony as the chief guest.

Twelve Officers and 335 Other Ranks of the 18 VIR participated in the course. During the course, each participant refreshed their knowledge on map reading, counter-insurgency operations, internal security, fighting in built-up areas, disaster management, firing, etc. The following Officers and Other Ranks were awarded special awards for their achievements:

- Best Student: Second Lieutenant A.M.I Akthaf

- Best Shooter: Sergeant D.M.S.S Dissanayake

- Best in Physical: Infantryman D.N.S.L Jayasooriya

- Best Company in the Battalion: Support Company
