Following the conceptual initiative of Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, the troops of 1st Regiment of the Sri Lanka Riffle Corps (1 SLRC) under 11 Infantry Division successfully completed the construction of a new house for a deserving family in Kalalpitiya, Matale on 19 October 2024 in line with the 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army.
The newly constructed house was officially handed over to the beneficiary by Major General Y.A.B.M Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, the Commander Security Forces (Central). This project was made possible through the generous financial contributions of the 306 B/2 Ocean City Lions Club and donors of the area.
In addition to the house warming ceremony the event featured the distribution of 30 stationery items for children’s. Additionally 500 free spectacles, 500 lunch packets, 300 Areca nut plants and 10 Carpentry tools were also distributed among villagers.
Major General K.A.U Kodithuwakku RSP USP psc IG, the General Officer Commanding of 11 Infantry Division along with his spouse, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, donors, beneficiary and his family members and villagers of the area participated in the occasion.
