JAFFNA: A SOLDIER SERVING south of A-9 road in the general area of KILALY fell victim to explosion of a booby trap set by Tigers in the area ahead of the troops on Thursday (27) at about 12.30 p.m.
Similarly Tiger terrorists in one of their bunkers on the Forward Defence Line in MUHAMALE opened fire on the troops at the opposite area at about 6.30 p.m. on Thursday (27). The enemy fire struck one of the soldiers claiming his life. Troops retaliated their fire.
Meanwhile, troops at NAGARKOVIL fired terrorist positions on the opposite side Thursday (27) late night after terrorists directed a chain of fire towards the troops with Rocket Propeller Grenade , Machine Guns and small arms.
However, it is believed at least 2-3 terrorists and two of their bunkers were destroyed in the troop fire.
Meanwhile, troops around 8.15 p.m. on Thursday (27) strode into terrorist bunkers in MUHAMALE and destroyed at least two of them. Their transmissions said 3-4 terrorist cadres were wounded in the fire.
