Troops of the 22 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ - E) considering prevailing shortage of blood for emergencies in hospitals staged a blood donation project at the 6 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps camp in Trincomalee on Thursday (21) on the guidelines given by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 22 Division, Major General Channa Weerasooriya.
This humanitarian gesture was organized in response to a request made by Dr M.F Zeena Zanooz, Consultant Transfusion Physician of the Regional Blood Center, Trincomalee, considering the urgent requirement for blood due to prevailing situation in the country.
Officers and Other Ranks, belonging to the 223 Brigade Headquarters and the under command 6 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps battalion volunteered to donate blood for this worthy cause. Commander, 223 Brigade, Brigadier Shantha Perera, Commanding Officer, 6 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Lieutenant Colonel Hasantha Hennadi were among the participants in the programme.
