The outgoing Chief of Defence Staff General Jagath Jayasuriya was accorded a ceremonial farewell at a ceremony, held at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff premises (OCDS) on Tuesday (16).
Upon arrival at the OCDS premises, General Jayasuriya was received by the Chief of Staff at OCDS and accompanied him to the saluting dais from where he received a tri service Guard of Honour.
After the military honours, General Jayasuriya ceremonially handed over the duties to his successor, Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunathilake at the OCDS.
The outgoing Chief of Defence Staff General Jagath Jayasuriya afterwards paid his respect to the War Heroes monument in Battaramulla and placed floral wreaths as tokens of honour.
