As of this morning (23), a total of 309 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. 188 of them were from Peliyagoda Fish Market, and the rest 121 from Minuwangoda garment factory-infected cluster, states the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).
By 6.00 this morning (23), the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory stands at 2631. Of them, 1328 are factory employees and other 1303 are locally-identified contacts of those garment factory-infected employees.
The flight 6E 9034from Doha, Qatar with 08 passengers and the flight UL455 from Japan with 09 expatriates arrived. All of them were sent to tri forces-managed quarantine centres after medical procedures.
Within the day (23), 281 quarantined individuals after PCR tests are set to leave for their homes. Of them, 198 persons are from Koggala Long Beach QC, 09 persons from Rajagiriya Ayurvedic QC, 04 persons from Jetwing Beach QC, 02 persons from Jetwing Blue Waters QC, 20 persons from Camilet Beach QC, 02 persons from Mount Lavinia QC, 26 from Punnai QC and 20 from Norochcholai QC.
To-date, 56,302 individuals have left for homes after quarantining. As of this morning (23), 8,632 persons in 73 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Within yesterday (22), 8,071 PCR tests were carried out across the country and the total PCR tests conducted so far stands at 415,243.
By 6.00 this morning (23), 60 fully-recovered COVID-19 affectees were discharged from hospitals. 05 of them are expatriates and 55 are identified as close contacts of Minuwangoda garment factory-infected employees who were in quarantine at QCs.
