TNA Provincial Councillor Hails Army's Mullaittivu Development Roles


The Non Governmental Organization (NGO), FRIDSRO, chaired by Rev. Jacob Perera, working in close liaison with the Security Force Headquarters – Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT), provided raw materials to the value of Rs 4.3 million for construction of a much-needed new building to the Keppapilavu Primary School which was without a permanent building.    

The new permanent building (120 x 25 ft) with all facilities such as toilets, water and other requirements was built by Army soldiers of the Engineer Service Regiment (ESR) with the help of 592 Brigade soldiers and 4 Gemunu Watch (GW) troops serving the area.

The project undertaken by 592 Brigade former Commander, Brigadier S.A.R Samarasinghe was completed by Brigadier M.K.P Perera, former General Officer Commanding 59 Division and Brigadier S.K.P.N.B Ehalamalpe General Officer Commanding, 59 Division.

Major General L.B.R Mark, Commander, SFHQ-MLT with close coordination with the FRIDSRO organization brought the project to fruition.

The opening ceremony on Thursday (28) saw Mr Antony Jeganathan, Deputy Chairman of the Northern Provincial Council and Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Councillor, together with Rev Jacob Perera, Mr M Raj Kumar, Mullaittivu Zonal Director of Education, principal, teachers, students and civilians took part in the opening ceremony of the new building.

Mr Antony Jeganathan speaking at the ceremony said that he was very impressed and happy with what is being done by the Army in Mullaittivu area, devoid of party politics.

“A great deal of work is done by the Army and Major General Mark for the benefit of people living in this area and their services are held in high esteem, irrespective of party politics. I am impressed and extremely happy what has been done by the Army in the Keppapilavu model village and I would like to offer my sincere thanks to the Army for their excellent work”, the TNA Provincial Councillor has told the gathering.
