Major General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel of the Regiment of Gajaba Regiment (GR) and Commando Regiment (CR) Friday (26) evening on the sidelines of donating a home for a needy family joined a mammoth tree planting programme, organized by MBC Network (Pvt) Ltd to coincide with the 25th Anniversary of 'Sirasa FM' and 21st Anniversary of 'Sirasa TV' at the 'Home of Gajaba' in Saliyapura, Anuradhapura.
Major General Shavendra Silva was warmly welcomed by the Deputy Centre Commandant - GR, Colonel Mahinda Rajapaksha on his arrival at the venue. He afterwards inaugurated the ‘Thuru Sirasa’ programme by planting ’Karanda’ (Mullikulam) saplings, together with Mrs Needra Weerasinghe, the Director, Electronic Media - Capital Maharaja Group of Companies and other officials during a brief ceremony.
