The Watawala Tea Company in response to a request of the Commander Security Force -Wanni Major General Hemantha Bandara provided a total of 165 Dry Ration packs, each worth about Rs. 7500 for distribution among religious places of worship, located in the Security Force - HQ Wanni region after information about hardships of those religious places was brought to their attention.
The donation was coordinated by the Senior Brand Manager at Watawala Tea Company, Mrs. Anuradha Dassanayake in cooperation with Army Officers who had carefully identified the most wanted places in view of prevailing economic difficulties and absence of devotees to those places.
The project to distribute dry rations was continued for four days (17th,18th, 19th & 24th June 2021). The organizers took those packets to buddhist temples on Poson Poya day. The Commander Security Forces - Wanni Major General Hemantha Bandara, General Officer Commanding 65 Division Major General Tikiri Dissanayaka, General Officers Commanding 21 Division, Major General Mohan Rathnayake, Commanders of 211 and 653 Brigades and officials of the donor, Watawala Tea Company joined the distribution prgramme on all four days.
