MULLAITTIVU: AS THE COUNTRY'S protracted War for Separation was drawing to an end, igniting hopes for a Rejuvenated Sri Lanka, free from Grips of Terrorism, an estimated total of 5244 entrapped civilians from the New Safe Zone found their emancipation Friday (15) late evening after reaching troops in 59, 58 and 53 Divisions.
53 Division in KARAYANMULLIVAIKKAL received 2300 civilians whereas 58 Division and 59 Division troops cleared 2407 and 537 civilians for entry into troop-held areas respectively as of 21.00 hours Friday (15) night.
Troops are still attending the remaining civilians who are still lined up for entry into the cleared areas.
