Troops of the 58 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ- West) responded to a request for help and took urgent measures to contain a fast spreading wild bushfire in the general area of Thiruwanaketiya, Muththettuwa in Ratnapura District on Sunday (25).
The fire that broke out in Thiruwanaketiya area at about 12 mid noon on Sunday (25) has affected about 10 acres by the time Army troops commenced their work.
Troops of the 58 Division under the SFHQ- West, commanded by Major General Sudath Perera, General Officer Commanding conducted the emergency operation to quell the fire.
