By Wednesday (7) evening, ground troops as well as other intelligence affirmed that fierce resistance of the troops killed at least 60 Tiger terrorists when troops swung into action and overran their bunker lines, advancing further deep into the interior offering Tigers a thundering blow that killed and wounded so many Tiger cadres.

As the fight reached its apex, troops after dominating their positions forced the terrorists to withdraw with their injured fellow-cadres. At least five LTTE vehicles, eye-witness said, have been used to collect LTTE casualties in the aftermath of the fire-fight.

Eleven soldiers, dedicated for the defence of the country paid the supreme sacrifice during this morning's attack. A total of 41 soldiers with LTTE injuries were admitted to hospitals.

The multi-pronged thrust directed by the troops forced the Tiger to run in all directions. Tigers, having noticed the extent of damages, rushed to fetch their vehicles to transport their wounded cadres to hospital.

Troops as the dusk fell cleared the area and co-operated with other services and Policemen in order to bring normalcy to the JAFFNA area.
