Tenth UN Peace Keeping Contingent to Leave Soon

PASSING-out parade of the tenth Sri Lankan Army contingent, designed to serve in Haiti on UN Peace Keeping mission was held at Army Cantonment in Panagoda on Saturday (20).

The main composition consisted of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops while a few service personnel from service and support arms also would leave for Haiti with them.

A total of fifty two Officers and six hundred and ninety seven Other Ranks are to take over duties from Gajaba Regiment (GR) troops presently performing duties in Haiti.

Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Competent Authority for the Northern Province Major General G.A. Chandrasiri, as Chief Guest,  took the salute of the parade commanded by Lieutenant Colonel S.P.K.A. Pilapitiya.
