Ten More Senior Officers Elevated to the Rank of Major General

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, extending warm greetings and best wishes took time off to present symbols of new authority to just-promoted Major Generals of the Army after inviting all of them to the Commander’s Office on Wednesday (13 September).

Major General A.K Rajapaksa RSP, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area - North Central, Major General G.A Munasinghe RSP ato, Director General, Directorate of Ordnance Services, Major General K.V.N.P Premaratne RSP USP psc, General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division, Major General U.K.D.D.P Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, Commandant, Army War College, Major General P.R Pathiravithana USAWC psc, Director General, Directorate of Staff Duties, Major General D.P Welagedara RSP USP psc IG, Military Liaison Officer, Ministry of Defence, Major General K.A.W.N.H Bandaranayake USP, General Officer Commanding, 14 Infantry Division, Major General M.P.K Madurapperuma RSP USP psc, Director General, Directorate of Real Estate and Quartering thus received symbols of authority assuring that all of them would further commit and perform duties with enhanced courage.

Major General M.T.I Mahalekam WWV RWP RSP USP ndu psc, Commandant, Sri Lanka Military Academy and Major General K.A.N Rasika Kumara psc, however were not present at the occasion as they are on overseas assignments.

After cordial interactions and greetings, the Commander of the Army presented symbolic General’s sword to the new two-star Generals to signify their new authority.

Those Officers thanking the Commander of the Army for his warm wishes added memories to the occasion by posing for several photos.
