Tamil Tiger With His Weapon Surrendered To Troops

BATTICOLOA : A TAMIL TIGER YOUTH WHO DISSERTED the LTTE organization has surrendered to the POLWATHTHA Army detachment in BATTICOLOA Saturday (19) afternoon.

Further, he has produced one T-56 weapon, five magazine, 120 rounds, one hand grenade, one radio set, one mobile phone, money worth Rs.10600.00 and his bank saving book. Which were in his position to the troops.

LTTE Attack on Police Vehicle Repulsed

VAVUNIYA: An LTTE FIRE directed on a Police vehicle Saturday (19) at about 1.10 p.m. at KURUMANKADU in VAVUNIYA was retaliated.

Policemen attached to the VAVUNIYA Police were proceeding in a lorry for an administrative duty when the LTTE terrorists waylaid and fired at the vehicle.

However, Police retaliatory fire chased the terrorists away. Later, two T-56 weapons, 180 rounds of Ammunition and four magazines were recovered with the assistance of STF troops. Who rushed to the scene. One LTTE suspect was also taken in for questioning. Civilian Killed By Unidentified Gunmen

VAVUNIYA : A civilian has been shot dead by an unidentified gunman, suspected to be from the LTTE, Saturday (19) around 8.30 a.m. at ILAWARADENKULAMA, VAVUNIYA.

The victim, KARUNESHWARAM KANDIWARAN has been killed in front of MURUGANAR farm.

The SLMM was informed.

The VAVUNIYA Police are conducting investigation. LTTE Terrorists claim one more civilian\'s Life

JAFFNA : One more civilian has been shot and killed in broad daylight Saturday (19) around 1.00 p.m. by LTTE pistol group men at KALIKOVIL, JAFFNA.

The victim has been identified as BALAKRISHNAN (26).

The SLMM was to be informed.

The JAFFNA Police are conducting investigations.

Dead Bodies Of Two Civilians Found

BATTICALOA : LTTE GUNMEN HAVE REPORTEDLY KILLED two civilians in the general area of BATTICALOA and VALACHCHENAI Friday (18).

PUBALIPILLE KONESHWARSA (45) of SECOND CROSS LANE, VINYAGAPURAM, VALACHCHENAI has been killed Friday (18) at about 11.00 p.m according to the reports.

On being informed by civilians, troops recovered his dead body Saturday (19) morning while it was lying in the VINAYAGAPURAM, VALACHCHENAI.

The dead body of another victim, PUSHPARAJA CHANDRAKRISHNAN (18) of SWEET GARMENT, KIRAIMADU gunned down by LTTE was recovered by STF troops, the same morning from KALLIADY area in BATTICALOA.

He is believed to have been killed Friday (18) morning. His neck and both hands had cut injuries caused by a sharp weapon which was later found.

The SLLM was informed.

The VALACHCHENAI and BATTICALOA Police stations are conducting investigations.

Tamil Tiger Terrorists Killed In Ambush

JAFFNA : TROOPS ON DUTY AT KALLIKAI, JAFFNA killed two Tamil Tigers (LTTE) who attempted to attack Security Forces members close upon Friday (18) nightat about 11.55 p.m..

The group of armed Tamil Tigers was moving in the dark on a secret mission when soldiers confronted them and killed two of them.

Later, troops found two LTTE dead bodies, one T-56 weapon with two filled magazine, one pistol with one filled magazine, one hand grenade, one radio set, one compass, two cyanide capsules, one travelling bag, one identity card and Rs 2150.00 in cash.

One soldier who sustained injuries after remaining Tamil Tigers fired at troops during their retreat was admitted to hospital.

A search and clear operation in the area has commenced.

Hand Grenade Thrown At PLOTE Office

VAVUNIYA: THE POLITICAL OFFICE OF THE PEOPLE?S LIBERATION ORGANIZATION of TAMIL EELAM (PLOTE) at AMBAKULAM in VAVUNIYA came under LTTE hand Grenade attack Friday (18) night at about 10.20 p.m..

An unidentified LTTE terrorist hurled a hand grenade towards the PLOTE political office on VAVUNIYA- HOROWPATHANA road and disappeared in the dark.

However, no damages were reported.

Local Curfew In Jaffna Further Relaxed

JAFFNA: LOCAL CURFEW IN FORCE at VADAMARACHCHI,WALIKAMAM and THENNAMARACHCHI in JAFFNA has been relaxed from 12.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. Saturday (19). The five hour curfew relaxation has been declared by Security Forces for civilians to attend to their domestic requirements.
