Tamil Language Proficiency Certificates Awarded to Security Force Personnel

320 Army personnel who followed an intensive Tamil Language course received certificates in a colourful ceremony held at the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) auditorium, Palaly on Friday (8).

80 Officers and other ranks from five Security Force Headquarters in Jaffna, Wanni, Kilinochchi and Mullaittivu, attended the twelve-day residential language training course with the aim of obtaining a better knowledge of the Tamil language and to improve their communicative skills under the experienced language teachers of the National Institute of Language Education and Training (NILET). This certificate awarding ceremony was organized by Major General Nandana Udawatta, Commander, SFHQ - J.

The certificate awarding ceremony was graced by Hon. Karu Jayasuriya, Minister of Public Administration, Local Government and Democratic Governance and Buddha Sasana as the Chief Guest and Hon. Ruwan Wijewardene, State Minister of Defence as the Guest of Honour.

Officers and other ranks who followed the course displayed their achievements in a mini concert staged by them.

State Minister Ruwan Wijewardene, Mr. Palitha Hewamudali, Chairman of the National Institute of Language Education and Training, Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters - Mullaittivu and Major General Nandana Udawatta, Commander, SFHQ - J gave away certificates to students.
