Peiris, Minister of External Affairs, Secretary to HE the President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Mr Lalith Weerathunga, Secretary Defence, Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Governor Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Dr Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Prof Rajiv Wijesinghe, Member of Parliament, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Prof. Rohan Gunaratna, Dr Ahmed S Hashim and Dr David Kilcullen, all three widely-acclaimed eminent scholars on terrorism.

The first of its kind in Sri Lanka, meant to share Sri Lanka’s experience on the road to military defeat of the LTTE, the world’s most ruthless terrorist organization, was attended by over 80 delegates representing 41 countries, including Sri Lanka.
The seminar, on a concept mooted by Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary Defence focused on a variety of themes such as ‘Global Terrorism’, ‘Terrorist Trends’, ‘Predominance of both Political and Military Efforts’, ‘Reconciliation’, ‘Threats to National and International Security Concerns’, ‘Nation Building’, ‘Resettlement’, ‘Effective Counter Mechanism’, ‘Prevention of Resurgence of Violence’, ‘Re-evaluation of Traditional Approaches’, etc during separate sessions.
