Support for Pilgrims During ‘Pada Yathra’ by 12 Infantry Division

Under the guidance of Major General B.K.G.M.L Rodrigo RSP psc IG, Commander of Security Forces - Central, the 12 Infantry Division began its support for the annual ‘Pada Yathra’ foot pilgrimage from Jaffna to Kataragama on 30 June 2024.

The troops focused on providing security and administrative support to pilgrims along the route from Kumbukkan Oya to Katagamuwa. Further, troops given assistance by providing medical aid, drinking water, and other essential services.

On 30 June 2024, the troops assisted a ‘Saruwath Dansala’ at the Lin Thuna area within Yala National Park and took charge of the Dansala in Katagamuwa from 02 July 2024 to 16 July 2024. They prepared three meals daily for thousands of devotees.
