Responding to a request of the parents and civilians in Iddakkattu area in Wallipunam, troops of the 6 Gemunu Watch of the 681 Infantry Brigade of the 68 Infantry Division under the Security Force HQ-Mullaittivu supportive of the community, built an extra classroom for students at Iddakkattu school to ease the prevailing congestion for classes in their school.
The social service activist, Dr (Mrs) Shiranthi Wickramanayaka provided the financial support, amounting to Rs one million towards its construction work as she considered the Army was the best workforce that could manage the project, free from corrupt practices.
The formal hand-over ceremony and its inauguration took place on Wednesday (19 April) with the participation of the President of the Believers of Eastern Church Rev Sri Vargis Mour Makariyos of Hope for Children, Dr. Mrs Shiranthi Wickramanayaka, the donor, Commander 681 Infantry Brigade, Colonel General Staff, 68 Infantry Division, Commanding Officer 6 Gemunu Watch, teachers, children, parents and members of the general public.
