The school-going children of soldiers and civil employees, attached to the 571 Infantry Brigade of the 57 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ - Mullaittivu were the recipients of school bags, educational accessories and stationery to the value of Rs 125,000/= on Tuesday (17).
Family members of late Major Viraj Wimalasooriya of the Sri Lanka National Guard volunteered to sponsor the stock of those educational needs in response to a request of Brigadier K.G.C.M.H Gamlath, 571 Brigade Commander.
The distribution ceremony at the 571 Brigade HQ was attended by the 571 Brigade Commander as the Chief Guest, together with the Civil Affairs Officer and several Officers.
During the same ceremony, as per directions of the Army HQ, several civil employees working for the 571 Brigade HQ were awarded dry ration packs as relief measures.
Beneficiaries were picked up from families who have more than 3 children in a family.
