Student Officers at DSCSC Treated to 'Iftar' Dinner


Student officers of Islamic faith studying at the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Sapugaskanda, conducted a special ‘Iftar’ (breaking of fast) ceremony on account of forthcoming Ramazan festival on Friday (3) at the DSCSC Officers’ Mess.

A group of Muslim student officers from foreign countries and their family members, together with Sri Lankan student officers participated in the ritual after conducting a special prayer session.

Afterwards, those student officers and family members in the company of Major General Udaya Perera, Commandant, DSCSC, joined the special dinner, comprised of exclusively-prepared traditional Ramazan dishes, specialties and desserts, arranged following guidelines given by the Commandant.

At present, more than 20 foreign students from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Oman and Pakistan, together with Student Officers of the tri-services and the public sector are reading for the Passed Staff College (psc) course in the DSCSC, now affiliated to the Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU).     

DSCSC senior officers, members of the Directing Staff, student officers and family members took part in the event.
