‘RANA ARUNA UDANAYA – 2010’ new year fair organized by the Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) under the guidance of its President, Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, was ceremonially inaugurated by the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya on Friday (02) morning in Panagoda.
This fair, organized to collect funds for Seva Vanitha projects for the welfare of disabled war heroes, will continue for two days, 2nd and 3rd April. It is open to the public from 9.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. on both days. All Regiments in the Army have put up sale outlets in order to sell various festive items at reasonable rates. They include readymade garments, handloom textiles, footwear, electrical goods, ornamental flowers, spices, rice, coconut and other essential food items. A Game Park designed for children and adults is available on both days followed by evening musical entertainments.
Lieutenant General Jayasuriya and Mrs Jayasuriya also visited the stalls and bought essential goods from the fair. All profits from the fair will go to SVAB welfare fund.
