The coordinating conference of the Steering Committee on Forest and Archaeological Conservation in Trincomalee, presided jointly by Provincial Land Commissioner for Trincomalee and Major General Samantha Silva, General Officer Commanding, 22 Division got underway at the 22 Division Headquarters on Wednesday (7).
During the conference, GOC, 22 Division had a lengthy discussion regarding recent developments in regard to illegal sand mining, deforestation, land encroachment, treasure hunting, security of archaeological sites and the monitoring system for unauthorized entry into conservation sites.
