State Minister of Defence Speaks to Troops at SLAVF

Hon. Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, State Minister of Defence met Officers and Other Ranks serving under the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) at SLAVF HQ premises, Kosgama on Friday (12 Jan).

Upon arrival at the entrance, the State Minister of Defence was received by Major General M.K Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu, together with Major General M.T.K.R Silva KSP. The visiting Minister commenced the visit by laying a floral wreath and saluting the memorial of Captain Saliya Aladeniya’s Statue at SLAVF HQ premises. Subsequently, he was greeted in a Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour.

During the course of his speech, the State Minister paid tribute to the memory of all fallen War Heroes and expressed appreciation for the current role and tasks being performed by the troops of the Sri Lanka Army.

Towards the end of his address, Hon. Premitha Bandara Tennakoon conveyed his sincere gratitude to the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, for arranging the opportunity for him to address the Officers. Following his address, Major General M.K Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu presented a special memento to the visiting State Minister of Defence.

Later, the State Minister planted a sapling inside the camp compound before joining the tea arrangement, where he took some time to speak to the Officers and Other Ranks individually. Prior to his departure, he penned down some complimentary remarks in the visitors' book and participated in a few group photographs.
