State Minister of Defence Speaks to Officers at SFHQ-West

Hon. Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, State Minister of Defence met Officers serving under the Security Force Headquarters - West at Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment auditorium, Panagoda on Monday (27 Nov) and shared thoughts with them.

On arrival at the entrance, the State Minister of Defence was greeted in a Guard Turnout, presented by West troops before he was received by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, together with Major General W.H.K.S Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander, Security Forces - West.

Afterwards, he during the course of his speech, paid tribute to the memory of all fallen War Heroes before May 2009 and appreciated the current role and tasks being performed by the troops of the Sri Lanka Army.

In addition, he talked about the Army welfare facilities and assured that he would take necessary action to further improve those facilities to the best of the ability of the government.

Towards the end of his address, he expressed his sincere gratitude to the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu for arranging the opportunity for him to speak to the Officers of the West.

After his address, the Commander, Security Forces - West presented special mementos to the visiting State Minister of Defence.

Later, the State Minister of Defence joined the tea arrangement where he took some time off to speak to the Officers individually. Prior to his departure, he penned down some complimentary remarks in the visitors' book and sat for a few group photographs.

Senior Officers and Officers were also present during the occasion.
