The team of Sri Lankan para athletes who won medals in the 4th Asian Para Games 2023 held recently in Hangzhou, China returned home amidst a rousing welcome at Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport on Monday (30 Oct).
Hon Rohana Dissanayake, State Minister of Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs, Colonel H.M.S.P.S De Silva RSP USP, Colonel Sports, Directorate of Sports, Lieutenant Colonel D.D Wickramasinghe, Assistant Secretary, Army Olympic Committee, Senior Officers together with representative officials of government authorities were present there to welcome Army athletes.
A total of 6 Army para athletes took part in the 4th Asian Para Games 2023 and Warrant Officer II K.A Samitha Dulan of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) won the Silver Medal in the Para Javelin Throw F-44 (Distance - 64.09m) event while Sergeant H.G Palitha Bandara of Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) secured the Bronze Medal in Men's Para Discuss Throw F 63 (Distance - 14.15m).
