Sri Lankan Expatriates Continue Their Support to Disable War Heroes

A stock of jell socks, used generally for amputated disable War Heroes was donated to the Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) by Sri Lanka United National Association of Canada.

The stock valued at Rs 181,500.00 was handed over to Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President, SVAB on Thursday (24). Mr Mahinda Gunasekara, Chairman, Sri Lanka United National Association of Canada and Mrs Malathi Gunasekara made the donation on behalf of the membership. Those representatives pledged to make such donations in the future too.

Meanwhile, the SVAB’s ongoing project, meant to provide monetary support for construction of houses for War Heroes received a further boost from the popular vocalist, Ranidu Lanka Jayaratne, Sri Lanka Mobitel Telecom Ltd and Brandix Pvt Ltd recently. Those donations are to be used for construction and completion of the houses of injured War Heroes, Captain R.K.D.N Chandradasa, Private M.A Gayan Kumara, Lance Corporal N.S.J Hitige and Sergeant W.S Udaya Kumara according to the SVAB.

Accordingly, separate sums of Rs 300,000.00, Rs 100,000.00, Rs 100,000.00 and Rs 30,000.00 were distributed respectively among above War Heroes in the past week.

Similarly, the Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Regiment (SLEME) Seva Vanitha Unit Chairperson Mrs Lilani Wijethunga donated a sum of Rs. 1 million towards the SVAB’s ‘Brave Hearts’ project. The donation, along with seven gift packets of school accessories for kindergarten kids and two sets of crutches given by Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) Seva Vanitha Unit Vice President Mrs Shirani Udawatta was made to the SVAB President, Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya on the same occasion. The donation took place recently.
