A delegation of the Sri Lanka Army, led by Major General W.A.S.S Wanasinghe RSP VSV USP ndu, Chief of Staff currently in Lebanon in order to participate in the awarding ceremony of the 14th contingent of the Sri Lanka Force Protection Company (SLFPC) of the United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon (UNIFIL) paid a courtesy call on the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Lebanon, HE Kapila Susantha Jayaweera at the Ambassador's official residence in Beiruit, Lebanon on 5 September 2023.
The delegation, comprised of Director General General Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Colonel Overseas Operations of the Directorate of Overseas Operations, Colonel P.P.C Perera psc, together with the Contingent Commander of the 14th SLFPC, Lieutenant Colonel D.P.L.T Kaluaggala and few Officers of the 14th SLFPC joined the visit to the Ambassador for Sri Lanka.
The courtesy call was arranged prior to the ceremonial medal awarding parade of the 14th Force Protection Company in the UNIFIL on 06 September at the Greenhill camp in UNIFIL HQ, Naquora.
The 14th SLFPC contingent, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel D.P.I.T Kaluaggala and 2nd in Command, Major W.M.C.K Wanninayake left for Lebanon on 2 March 2023 and is composed of 125 Army personnel, including 10 Officers and 115 Other Ranks and four sniffer dogs.
