Sri Lankan Achievers in ‘19th Asian Games’ Return Home to Rousing Welcome

The return of the Sri Lankan athletic team, inclusive of 8 Army athletes who showcased excellent performances in the just-concluded ‘19th Asian Games’ in Hangzhou, China arrived home on Monday (10 Oct) to a rousing welcome at Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport.

Brigadier V.M.N Hettiarachchi RWP RSP, Vice President of Army Athletic Committee, Senior Officers together with representative officials of government Authorities were present there to welcome Army athletes.

During the 19th Asian Games’, Sri Lankan athletes secured 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals in total. Of them, Army athletes secured one Silver Medal and two Bronze Medals.

More than 12,000 athletes from all 45 members of the Olympic Council of Asia competed in the 19th Asian Games during 23 September - 8 October.

The achievements of Army participants are as follows:
