Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) marked its 62nd Anniversary (Regimental Day) 09 May 2018 with a series of events at its Regimental centre in Ambepussa.
Brigadier Ajith Pallawela, Centre Commandant, SLSR warmly received the Colonel of the Regiment, SLSR, Major General Piyal Wickramaratne as the Chief Guest at the entrance to the Regimental Headquarters premises upon his arrival to the ceremony.
The Colonel of the Regiment was ushered to the parade ground to receive the military honours as melodies of patriotic songs rent the air as a formality of the day’s proceedings.
The Colonel of the Regiment, SLSR as the Chief Guest for the occasion reviewed the parade upon the request of the parade commander before he received the ceremonial salute.
Major General Piyal Wickramaratne, Colonel of the Regiment, SLSR, together with Senior Officers afterwards took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Regimental monument after all military formalities were done.
The 62nd Anniversary celebration ceremony reached its climax with an All Ranks luncheon, followed by a troop address and planting of a sapling in the camp compound. Officers and Other Ranks together with the Colonel of the Regiment shared a lunch treat.
