Sri Lanka Signal Corps-assembled ‘FLASH COM’ UHF Non-Secure Handheld Transceiver Presented to Army Chief

The new ‘UHF Non-Secure Hand-held Transceiver’ assembled by 10 Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps troops, christened as “FLASH COM” which is capable of addressing the shortage of non-secure communication systems for smooth conduct of administrative matters in the organization was handed over to Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army on Thursday (05) at the Army Headquarters by Major General H.M.L.D Herath RSP USP psc, Chief Signal Officer.

The Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC), the communication, cyber and IT arm of the Army realizing the present day’s needs for reliable military communication equipment for the Army assembled this equipment having collected several imported parts on the directions of the Commander of the Army and under the direct supervision of the Chief Signal Officer.

Signal Corps experts assembled the imported parts after necessary modifications to design the new UHF Non-Secure Handheld Transceivers that could be produced as Hand-held communication equipment for administrative requirements at comparatively low and affordable budgets.

The entire project was undertaken by troops of the 10 SLSC commanded by Lieutenant Colonel H.M.B.M.B Herath USP with their professional experts in the field. The project is another extension of the Sri Lanka Army’s long-term plans of self-sustainability and defence production in the sphere of communication.

The Commander of the Army, having inspected the assembled Hand-held Transceiver appreciated efforts taken to make this project a reality, thus saving a huge amount of foreign exchange to the country.
