The Sri Lanka Army men's boxing team emerged victorious at the National Boxing Novices Championship, held on 21, 22, 23 and 24 April 2025 at the Royal College Indoor Stadium, Colombo. The event was organised by the Sri Lanka Boxing Association.
Approximately ninety boxers representing twenty-four sports clubs from across the country competed in the tournament. The Sri Lanka Army team displayed an outstanding performance, securing 12 gold medals and 5 silver medals across 13 weight categories.
Adding to the team's success, Lance Corporal M.M.N.K. Herath of the 5th Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment, was awarded the Best Boxer Trophy of the tournament for his exceptional performance in the 48kg weight category.
The team participated in the tournament under the guidance of Major General P.K.W.W.M.J.S.B.W. Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Army Boxing Committee.
