Indian troops, presently engaged in the annual ‘Mitra Shakthi’ exercise a collaborative training initiative between the Sri Lanka Army and the Indian Army proudly celebrated the 78th Indian Independence Day at the Army Training School in Maduru Oya, Sri Lanka.
India’s Independence Day, celebrated on 15 August every year commemorates the end of British colonial rule in 1947 signifying a momentous chapter in Indian history.
The festivities commenced playing the Indian National Anthem after raising the Indian flag before the troops by Colonel Ravindra Alawat, the head of the Indian contingent. The Director of the ‘Mitra Shakthi’ Exercise, Major General U.K.D.D.P Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, along with Senior Officers joined the celebrations extending warm greetings for the historic day.
In a gesture of camaraderie, members of the Indian contingent were also invited for all-rank tea by the Director of the ‘Mitra Shakthi’ Exercise, further strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the participating forces.
