Special Reserve Platoon Course - No: 03 Awards Certificates

The Special Reserve Platoon Course No 03 at Pampaimadu Battalion Training School, completed its training and awarded certificates on Tuesday (Jan 24) in the presence of Major General Champaka Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces - Wanni (SF-W).

The course, conducted between Dec 19 and Jan 24 was followed by 05 Officers and 124 Other Ranks, drawing 05 platoons from 21, 54, 56, 62 and 65 Infantry Divisions.

The curriculum of the course included lectures and practical sessions on handling GPS, martial arts, self-defence methods, unarmed combat, VIP protection, introduction to explosives and demolition, handling of weapons, search and rescue operations, firing, rules of engagement, special operation procedures, and internal security operations.

The closing remarks of the course were delivered by Commander, SF-W. Brigadier Administration and Quartering of SFHQ - W, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks attended the ceremony.

Following Officers and Other Ranks were awarded trophies for their skills and talents;

Best Platoon - 54 Infantry Division

Best 8-Man Team - 3rd Section of 8 VIR - 54 Infantry Division

Best Platoon Commander - Second Lieutenant G.N.R Jayaweera, VIR - 17 (V) VIR

Best All-rounder - Corporal L.H.N.K Lansakara - 8 VIR

Best Shooter - Second Lieutenant G.N.R Jayaweera, VIR -17 (V) VIR

Best Physicality - Corporal R.M.N.S Rathnayake - 17 (V) VIR
