Special Issue of "White Hackle" Dedicated To New Commander Presented

A special issue of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry's monthly periodical, "White Hackle,"  dedicated to the incumbent Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, himself a distinguished infantryman of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment (SLLI), was presented to him Saturday (21) morning at Army Headquarters during a brief ceremony, attended by a representative gathering of senior SLLI officers.

"White Hackle," the flagship magazine of the SLLI Regiment which has hitherto produced the most number of Commanders of the Army (6 nos), was the brainchild of Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake who pioneered its publication way back in July 1994 when he was a Lieutenant Colonel, considering the importance of sharing of SLLI information among its all ranks for better understanding and close cooperation.

Major General K. A. D. A Karunasekera, Colonel of the Regiment, SLLI presented this special issue, illustrative of various stages of Lieutenant General Ratnayake's rise to the top slot in the Army with a rare collection of photos during the brief ceremony at the Army Headquarters. Soon after assumption of office as Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Ratnayake who was by then the Colonel of the Regiment relinquished duties, paving way for his successor to be the Colonel of the Regiment.

The issue of this SLLI magazine has been continuing uninterruptedly since its birth in 1994.
