Special Forces’ New Colonel of the Regiment Assumes Duties

Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, Commander, 1 Corps of the Army commenced his duties as the 10th Colonel of the Regiment of the Special Forces on 23rd October 2021 at his Office in the SF Regimental Centre at Naula during a simple ceremony.

Adhering to health guidelines, a Guard of Honour salute was presented to him by SF troops after a formal Guard Turnout at the main entrance greeted him on his arrival.

Amid religious rites and rituals, followed by ‘Seth Pirith’ chanting of the Maha Sangha, Major General Harendra Ranasinghe assumed his duties in the new office leaving his signature for a formal document. During his address to the Officers, he explained his future plans to further uplift the Special Forces.

Later, the Colonel of the Regiment planted a sapling inside the Headquarters premises and left memories. The simple inaugural ceremony concluded after he paid tribute to the War Heroes’ monument.

Commander Security Forces – West, Commandant, MSTS, Centre Commandant at the SF Regimental Centre, Commander Special Forces Brigade, Senior Regimental Council Members, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were associated with the day’s simple event.
