Special Forces HQ Felicitates Two Newly-Promoted Major Generals

The Special Forces (SF) Regimental HQ at Naula hosted a formal felicitation ceremony to newly-promoted Major General M.T.I Mahalekam WWV RWP RSP USP ndu psc and Major General W.M.P.M Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu on Tuesday (31 October) after inviting them to the SF Regimental HQ.

Those newly-promoted two star Major Generals were warmly welcomed on arrival at the premises and subsequent separate Guard Turnouts at the entrance greeted them in accordance with military traditions.

Giving pride of place to the memory of all fallen SF War Heroes, both Major Generals separately laid floral wreaths at the SF War Heroes’ monument and paid their tribute in a solemn ceremony.

Afterwards, both of them were honoured in two separate Guard of Honour parades in the parade ground after they were invited to the special dais. Soon after, they left memories by posing for group photographs with the Regimental Staff and SF Officers. Following this commemorative moment, they individually addressed the troops, leaving a lasting impression with their words of wisdom and inspiration.

Notably, the event concluded with the symbolic act of planting saplings, leaving behind a poignant mark within the compound, signifying growth and continuity within the esteemed Special Forces Regiment. During refreshments, the newly-promoted Officers took time off to share a few thoughts with Officers who were present at the Officers’ Mess.
