The Special Forces’ Basic Course No 54 Passing Out Parade Held with Grand Display of Skills

The Special Forces’ Basic Course No - 54 passing out parade concluded on Saturday (21 October) at the Special Forces’ Training School (SFTS) in Maduru Oya. A total of 7 Officers and 113 Other Ranks, who had undergone an intense nine-month Basic Training Course, were newly inducted into the regiment.

Major General J.P.C Peiris RWP RSP ndc, who serves as the Colonel of the Regiment Special Forces and General Officer Commanding, 57 Infantry Division, graced the passing out parade as the Chief Guest. Brigadier R.P.S Prasad RWP RSP USP, the Center Commandant of the Special Forces Regimental Centre, along with Colonel D.S Horawalavithana WWV RWP RSP, Commandant, SFTS, warmly received and invited the Chief Guest to review the Guard Turnout at the entrance to the SFTS.

Major M.L.D Warnasiri WWV RWP RSP USP, the Chief Instructor of SFTS, led the colorful passing out parade (POP) as its Commander while Major R.M.A Rathnayake RWP RSP USP psc joined as the Second in Command.

Awards were presented to the outstanding participants of the Course. Second Lieutenant I.K.G.S.D Bandara was recognized as the Best in Physical Fitness and the Best Student in Tactics. The title of Best Shooter was awarded to Second Lieutenant H.M.S Thushan, and Second Lieutenant R.W.D.S Walikubura was honored as the Best Student in the Special Forces’ Basic Course No 54.

Major General H.D.W.K.N Eriyagama RWP RSP, General Officer Commanding, 58 Infantry Division, Major General R.M.M Ranasingha WWV RWP RSP, General Officer Commanding, 11 Infantry Division, Major General K.V.N.P Premarathna RSP USP psc, General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division, Major General M.T.I Mahalekam WWV RWP RSP ndu psc, Commandant, Sri Lanka Military Academy, Major General W.M.P.M Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu, Director General Movement and Brigadier M.P.K.L Amarasinghe WWV RWP RSP, Commander Special Forces Brigade participated in the ceremony as distinguished guests.
