Special Courses to Enlighten Officers Engaged in Civil Affairs

Civil Affairs Coordinating Officers serving Brigade and Division Headquarters in the North and East underwent a 10-day training course on ‘Confidence Building Course for Civil Affairs Officers’ at Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) auditorium at Modera, Colombo.

Resource personnel from Ministry of Defence and Urban Development, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Labour Relations, Ministry of Agriculture, Sri Lanka Army and a few other establishments, delivered lectures during the workshop.

Subjects discussed during the sessions included ‘Military Aids to Civil Authority’, ‘Task of Ministries’, ‘History and Techniques of Civil Affairs’, ‘Civil Affairs and Community Relations Present Strategy and Future Concerns of Sri Lanka’, ‘Development of Intelligence Through Civil Affairs’, ‘Development of Public Speaking Skills and Practices’, ‘Behaviour of Rural Community in Tamil and Sinhala Villages’, ‘Management Communication Pertaining to Civil Affairs’ and ‘Developing Negotiation Skills and Emotional Intelligence’.

A total of 27 senior officers serving in the North and East attended the sessions, organized by the Directorate of Psychological Operations at Army Headquarters.
